About Norman Bates and his Philosophy
No, my name is not Norman Bates. For those of you that don’t know, Norman Bates was that cross dressing lunatic in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. I thought it would be cool to have an alias, so why not pick the most interesting character in film history? I am a die hard movie fan. Unfortunately, I do not get to watch films as much as I like. I am a current student trying to attain a doctorate in physical therapy. When I do not have my face in a book, I am watching film. I am what I call and amateur film critic, but I am as passionate as they come. I will watch any film from any genre and any country. I will even watch those films that have been attacked by people that review films for a living. Over the years, I realized that there are only a few out there that actually know what they are talking about (Peter Travers from Rolling Stone is one that I look up to). Some of my favorites, have been blasted by the likes of Ebert and Roeper. I try to relate to the common movie goer. The last thing I will ever try to do is write this elaborate form of babel that film critics write in order to sound superior. On my site, I have my own opinions and I encourage you readers to have your own as well. I am interested in hearing your view on the films that I review. You can agree with me, or you can explain why you think that I am wrong. It’s all good, tell me what’s on your mind because I will do the same. One last thing, watch movies because you enjoy them. Please don’t be a “movie snob”.
